The early indications from Da King are not hopeful at all.
You have to take a few decisions if you are president of the Philippines, most of them very difficult ones. FPJ spent eight months humming and hawing over whether or not to run, what does that tell us about his decision-making ability?
And what about Sotto? Doesn’t he just give you the creeps, always perched on FPJ’s shoulder like some sort of evil puppeteer? What credentials does this guy have to be the power behind the throne – one of the “silent” senators, with known links to drug lords?
Nor were FPJ’s Delphic utterances reassuring. Basically his line yesterday was, I can’t tell you what I believe in because my advisers are still working on that. The closest he got to a substantive comment was on the death penalty. “It’s how we approach the problem. There’s a moratorium. It’s painful for the victims.” So that’s clear then.
Erap at least had a sort of hokey charm and was actually much, much smarter than his public image suggested. FPJ just sounds out of his depth.
