That IS scary.

But isn't it partly artificial? Didn't the one-child policy in China affect their disposition towards female children, with some families disposing of newborns when they turn out to be female?


Yes, I think it is partly to do with that, yet the male:female sex ratios are also out of wack in many other Asian countries, so I guess China's one child policy is not the whole story.
