A big hello to you Torn. UST students from elementary to college wear uniforms. Girls up to high school have two: the regular school uniform and another which one which is worn for mass.

I now work with the headquarters of the un-named agency, hence no updates for the photoblog. I visit your site all the time and will wait for your post on the color white -- Pinoys like it clean.

Miguel

For those who are Filipino here or are like Carla who are attacking the catholic church or religion, I think you are all sad. Wake up! You're filipinos! Nothing is perfect, but people are just using it as an excuse to pounce on religion so that they can live like pigs. You have to realize that it's the Philippines - not america or some secular country. You people are the ones with the problem because 1. you are killing yourself and your own culture, 2. no matter what, with religion present, it helps keep people stay grounded, 3. you are sufferring from wanting to be someone you're not. you are trying to make your country into some other place where they're probably not into the same things or don't share the same ways. You have to defend your country - stop pointing fingers. Also, it's common sense if the majority of the people are of a certain faith or culture that they would include it in everyday life like the cross in public places, etc. If you're not of that faith, you should not be worried about it but just use common sense and practice your faith- that is if you're not of the country's main faith and if you do have a religion. And last, those Filipinos here that posted like Carla, you are what we call sufferring from "too much info" meaning you let yourself be snagged by info that is made up of a lot of rubbish, so it means you are weak. You can be exposed and read about things, but to let it eat you up and change you is a problem. Better yet that you didn't become exposed to all that info because it just brainwashed you. You are the loser. And Gonzo, you are one of those who are still sufferring from another form of colonial mentality and inferiority because you are letting yourself be taken by others and their attitudes. You are cliche. Saying that the church is holding the country back, blah blah. Do you know that for many, money isn't the important thing as it is just temporary? Do you know that many consider themselves as "rich" when they have their faith? The actual ones going backwards is the west (like Europe) because many have nothing to believe in but are just forced to WORK WORK and spend and pay the politicians and then they have low birthrates, which means muslims are flocking to take over. See what happens?
Have a nice day, but do this: look in the mirror and you'll see the Filipino that you see. You're not western, be proud of your culture, of being Asian, proud your faith and country, defend it. Otherwise leave your country, get out and go join some other country that is living empty day by day. Look at the muslims who wasted no time in defending Mohammed from that stupid and childish cartoon. That's what I call strength and balls. They care about what they believe in and don't let anybody stomp on what and who they are.
And to those that aren't from a country or faith but are attacking/criticizing that country's ways, grow up and know that the world has so many countries. You should go travel and open your eyes because you and your brainwashed cliche trash attitudes are the MINORITY. "they live in the dark ages" < such a cliche. It's timeless, it's just that some people are brainwashed into thinking how to live. So sad. Actually faiths and religion have been around for so long that even your ancestors were probably devout and did good things. Also, faiths and religions will outlast the society and us, and YOU. Remember that.

Thanks for your point of view. I am sure Carla and Gonzo are honored to be personally attacked in such a comment.

The last posters after Miguel, you responded to Miguel's post and you read it, so that means its of importance, and it made you take time to reply. I really do think the enemy is the brainwashing done by people and organizations who are anti-religious because they just want people to work and worship money and material things so that those same anti-religious people would only get richer by the minute. and cvj and torn are examples of their work. I don't think it's what people truly think, but they are lead to think it. To be smart and strong means to be able to say what you really think, not because of bad influence of other sources. God bless.

"This statement by Miguel is one more example of how voluntary ignorance is used by many to sustain religious faith."

And it's very ignorant and uneducated of you to post such a thing because remember people's right to religion? This statement is used by those who are anti-religious. Why on earth would sustaining religious faith be voluntary ignorance? There's nothing wrong with it. You just have no respect for others and yourself and you have no right to say that. So people cherish their faith, fine, respect that. People had faith first before athiesm and all that, so it's really showing that cvj is totally anti-religious and hates religion and those that are religious. You are one of the roots of the problems of today's world. Being brainwashed and hating. If you hate religion, keep it to yourself and keep away from any blogs and discussions where religion will be discussed. Otherwise, it continues to show that this is important and people like you actually do care.
hello to resty, miguel and Liz, you guys are smart, faithful and have common sense :)

Tony

It is not for you to order people to “keep away from any blogs and discussions where religion will be discussed”. Until the personal abuse in the last few posts, the debate here has been civilized and informative — even when debaters disagreed (as with resty and cvj) they were polite and respected other people’s views. That is what blogging is all about.

You have done your cause no good at all by your mean-spirited and narrow-minded attacks on other people. Your remarks will only confirm many people’s views on religious intolerance in the Philippines.

Readers of this thread may be interested (or relieved) to know that the comments from “Miguel”, “Liz” and “Tony” were all from the same computer.

Tony, if you read my comment carefully , you will see that i did not say sustaining religious faith is voluntary ignorance. Rather, many people choose ignorance in order to sustain their religious faith. This is in contrast with those (like Resty and Dominique above) who, in the tradition of the Scholastics, choose to defend their faith with knowledge and reason.

gonzo

Miguel, Liz, and tony, the three stooges all from the same computer. Maybe he's a devout catholic with schizophrenia issues. Anyway not really worth responding to as the arguments are borderline stupid. you're right torn, in effect they're hurting their cause and their religion.

hi,

Was looking for information about how Phillipines became Christian and hit this blog. Very unfortunate. Yes, once a country becomes Christian or moslem then there's little scope for tolerance of others.

georges

hah!!!! Thank you!!! you just help me on my research on hegenomy..

i actually aree with amadeo... I'm a Chatholic and I exactly fell the way what amadeo is trying to say on the way Christians treat the moslems. Before visiting this blog I really thought Moslems are ethnic groups but after reading it you have just opened my eyes!!! I am not a devout Cathilic so it is safe to say!
