« Stabbing in Taguig: 21 October 2008 update | Main | Philippine—US relations in the age of Obama »

Never underestimate the Filipino's desire for revenge. Everything here is personal and right and wrong don't come into it.

You are better leaving this guy in limbo -- right now he doesn't know whether you will bring the case or not.

The system has clearly failed if someone can stab someone else and not face any consequences. He needs to pay one way or the other.

Notwithstanding the fact that we are coming to your wonderful country for holidays this Christmas, I am truly saddened by your dilemma. There is a lot at stake: the money, the safety... and the criminal system. On balance, I can only encourage you to take the courage to act because, as one of the letters says, the acts of the individual also contribute to making the State. In these times, I think of the masteful quote: ...Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Yours sincerely.
